Most people don’t realize how foundational this is...

You have probably heard it all before; all the memes and self help authors begging you to love yourself, value yourself, and trust yourself. It’s easy to nod and agree with all of these memes that blast us with messages day after day on the internet, isn’t it?

But have you fully considered what these memes are trying to tell you?  Have you fully felt in your body what it feels like to accept yourself and seal that acceptance so that nothing can ever break that bond with yourself?

If you are like most people, chances are, you are familiar with this dance that so many of us have with ourselves.

We agree to love ourselves until someone we love asks us to do something for them that we don’t really want to do, because that is what has always happened.

Because that is how they were taught to treat us.

We agree to practice self care until that client calls us at dinnertime asking for advice on a problem.  And we agree to it, because, well, that is how it has always been done.

We choose to work late again even though we agreed to not work past 5pm anymore.  Because, well, things need to get done.

Self love, self care, self acceptance, self confidence, self esteem, self trust… Let’s call all of these the self family.

If you are a living and breathing human being, chances are, you have heard about one or perhaps all of these attributes of loving and appreciating the self, especially in 2020, haven’t you?

The thing is...we can learn about why all of these selfisms are important and why we should all have them.  But what many people don’t realize is without this one thing, it is easy to break agreements with yourself when it comes to the self family.

I like to look at the self family as the children of this big mama or pappa, which is known as self-integrity

Self-integrity is the foundation of everything having to do with a commitment to self, and all of the self children.  Without self-integrity, there is no self-trust, and without self-trust, there is no self-worth, and without self-worth, there is no self-confidence, no self-esteem…

Are you starting to see where I am going with this?

And if you’re like many solopreneurs, you may identify as having high integrity.  Afterall, staying committed to what you say to others regarding your business is important for business, isn’t it?

But consider this;  how is not being in integrity with yourself affecting your business?  Your health?  Your relationship with others?

As you probably already know, our relationship with ourselves determines how successful we are in life.  The fact that you follow me tells me that you probably already know that because relationship with self is a foundational part of what I teach when it comes to having a successful business.

And for those of you who are unsure or not convinced about the importance of having self integrity, consider these following questions:

  1. When you say you are going to go to the gym and you don’t do it, how does that make you feel, and how does that affect the success of your business and your health?

  2. When you decide that you are going to put boundaries on the amount of hours you are working, and you don’t follow through with that agreement, how does that affect your creativity and your family life?

  3. When you say that you are going to start going to bed earlier, and you aren’t consistent with it, how do you feel as a result of not sleeping?

And with all of the above questions, how do you think breaking agreements with yourself over and over again will affect how much you trust yourself?

So if you are not fully convinced that self-integrity is the cat's meow when it comes to having the money, wealth, success, health, happiness, joy, and basically, everything you’ve ever wanted in life, then consider some more how breaking promises with yourself affects your life and convince yourself.

As always, sending you light, love, and abundance,

With love,

Angela Noelle
